Make the transport fit your itinerary

How should we plan overnight stops on Highway 1?

Choose hotels before finalizing the daily vehicle schedule. Use Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo or Monterey as possible stage breaks, depending on the stops you keep. A map showing the entire route is not a daily driving schedule; scenic visits and meals need their own time.

Ask for the proposed daily start and finish, any chauffeur waiting and overnight-related charges in writing. Confirm current road access before fixing the coastal route, especially around Big Sur. Do not assume the navigation app uses the scenic road or that all ten stops fit into the minimum suggested duration.
